slept on the floor

shitty interviews with bands, labels, zines and everything related to screamo, punk and things I like. this is my way of helping those who put effort and passion into what they do

1- where are you from?
Beau Navire is from Oakland, California. But we almost all of us have moved here at various times in our lives except Sean hes from the bay.

2- what do you do in the band?
I mainly play bass and do vocals and write lyrics along with Trei.

3- what are your upcoming projects?
Well as usual we are writing for another LP in time for summer. But currently we are waiting on the finished copies of the split with Republic Of Dreams from Germany. Also Clue #2 from Canada is going to release a vinyl version of our demo cassette very soon!  Alongside of that we are playing a few shows next month with our friends in Dangers and Conquest For Death in the bay area! Also in June we are doing a tour in Canada/East Coast with We Were Skeletons.

4- tell us something that we don’t know but should know about your band.
hmmm. That in the two years of being a band we have written forty two songs and are bouncing around ideas for five or six right now.

5- what bands do you like these days? what have you listened to today?
Current bands I am really into are Psyched To Die, Dear Landlord, Damages, Sailing On, Beyond Pink and Wet Witch. Today I’ve listened to mainly Roll Deep(Uk Grime from the late 2000’s), Earth Crisis, Negative Standards, Wild Moth and No Warning as well.

6- do you have friends in bands or who run labels/zines that we should know about?
This list could go on forever but ill try and keep it brief. Bands im really proud to be friends with are Damages, Sailing On, Lord Snow, Coma, Holy and Negative Standards! As for labels: React With Protest, Inkblot, A Mountain Far, Bear Records, Melotov, Olhar De Vidro, Texas Toast Diy, Kyeo Speaks, Black with Sap, Radical Friends, Moment Of Collapse and Shove Records!

7- why are you in a band and what do you want to accomplish in said band?
I am in a band because “this is the life we chose”. Back when I was 16 in high school in Virginia Beach, VA. I was in gym class and my friend Thomas came up to me and said “You like Nirvana and shit like that but check this out” and proceeded to play ‘Destroy What Destroys You’ by Against All Authority. In that moment I was swept up into the punk community for life.
As for what do I want to accomplish with my bands…they vary from band to band to be honest. Right now im in three bands that im working on pretty often. The ultimate goal I have in any of my bands is to raise awareness that even though we strive in punk to have a safer free space…we are very far from this and we need to continue to work on this. Beyond that we need to be aware that the places we live mean a lot as well and we need to work together and build stronger communities.

8- how did you decide upon your band’s name?
When we were releasing the demo our band name was Life Moves at the time…and we decided to change it. We had just finished dying all of the fabric for the patches (the first 100 demos had patches included) and had to figure out the name for the screen. We had a long list and decided on Beau Navire because we liked it most out of them and it was one of Kris’ favorite Charles Baudelaire poems.

9- when was the last time you slept on a floor?
Well, honestly if im not on a couch im on a floor every night. I share a room with two other people in a four bedroom house in Oakland. So when my direct roomates aren’t on tour I am just used to couches and floors and have been for years.

10- do you have anything more to say?
I just have to say if anyone wants to talk to us ever please feel free to hit us up and ask about anything. We love meeting new people and making new friends all over so lets all hangout!
